DONATE YOUR LAUGH
TO SCIENCE
Role: Creator
A micro-experience that was originally designed for an immersive art party in October 2020, but now lives on as a citizen science experiment:
Donate Your Laugh To Science (or DYLTS) was designed during the 2nd wave of COVID-19 in the US as a tool for people to laugh together safely - offering a boost of dopamine and relief from social isolation.
It was also designed to raise questions about the ethics of collecting biometric data (such as laughter) without first establishing globally recognized privacy protocols.
An unexpected perk of this micro-experience: Receiving a continuous stream of anonymous emails generated by DYLTS participants, sharing memes, gifs, articles and stories that have made them laugh. For example —>
Thanks y’all. Keep it coming.
