IMMERSIVE
DESIGN WEEK
Immersive Design Week is a decentralized festival spotlighting innovative designers, projects and technologies that sit at the nexus of film, theater, gaming, mixed reality, & interactive storytelling. We created IDW as a labor of love and a grassroots effort to celebrate the art, the science, & the chaos behind designing immersive experiences.

*About Immersive Design Summit:
The first Immersive Design Summit took place at The Speakeasy in 2018, with speakers from Meow Wolf, The VOID/ILMxLAB, Two Bit Circus, Punchdrunk International, Oculus, and more. In 2019, the Immersive Design Summit took place at the Swedish American Hall with speakers from Walt Disney Imagineering, Magic Leap, Dreamscape (Alien Zoo), Mycotoo and Giant Spoon (Bladerunner 2049 Experience & SXSWestworld), and more. Due to the popularity of the two-day summit, some of the IDS organizers decided to curate a calendar of design workshops, panels, demos, games, behind-the-scenes tours, special performances, immersive installations, and happy hour meetups around the city. Immersive Design Week was born!
In 2020, Immersive Design Summit moved down to LA and became HERE Summit & Festival, and Immersive Design Week remained in San Francisco. We’re excited to see what happens next as this community continues to expand, collaborate and re-imagine experience design.
